LPGA star to play at charity tournament

LPGA star and Henderson resident Natalie Gulbis will tee it up on Dec. 13 at Aliante Golf Club in an event to benefit the Fisher House, a not-for-profit organization that supports United States military families.
The event will feature an autograph signing from 9 a.m. to 10 and then Gulbis will set up on one of the par 3s to compete against the day's golfers in a closest-to-the-pin contest.
Golfers interested in participating simply need to make a tee time at Aliantefor that day.
Gulbis is a two-time member of the United States Solheim Cup team and ranks 56th on the 2008 money list.

Coyote Springs honored
The Chase, a Jack Nicklaus Signature Course at PGA Golf Club Coyote Springs, has been named among 2008's Top 10 Best New Golf Courses by the editors of Travel & Leisure Golf, one of the industry's leading publications.
"This is a tremendous honor for our entire team and we are deeply humbled by it, said Harvey Whittemore, chairman and founder of Wingfield Nevada Group, developer of Coyote Springs through its affiliate Coyote Springs Land Development Corp.
Other golf courses honored on the list include: The Castle Course in St. Andrews, Scotland, Tetherow Golf Club in Bend, Ore., and The Legacy Course at Roco Ki in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
The Chase at PGA Golf Club Coyote Springs opened in May and is located one hour northeast of Las Vegas. The course measures 7,471 yards and is the first new facility to open in the Las Vegas Valley in more than six years.
