flashpoint:

The State Board of Education should not exist?

Wed, Nov 12, 2008 (2 a.m.)

Some people believe the State Board of Education should not exist, that it would be a sage idea to excise it from the budget. Now comes recently elected board member Gloria Bonaventura to make the case. She recently sent an e-mail to donor types, reminding them she had just been elected and soliciting contributions to help retire her debt. The pitch came in all caps: “I AM ASKING YOU TO CONSIDER SUPPORTING MY CAMPAIGN FINANCIALLY. WE NEED HELP WITH THE FINANCIAL BURDON THAT MY CAMPAIGN HAS ACCUMULATED.” Burdon, eh? Oh what a burden it is on state residents to expect board of ed members to be literate. Or perhaps I should quote the great Eric Burdon: We’ve gotta get out of this place!

  1. Sorry about the typo. I am the one who composed it. Correction is "burden". We also fixed the caps thing that you did not like. Next time she will proof the email better before it goes out. Thanks for pointing that one out. I hope that a typo in a campaign donation email is not the biggest worry that people have.

    New revision:

I am asking you to consider supporting my campaign financially. We need help with the financial burden that my campaign has accumulated. Any amount will help. $5.00, $25.00 or anything helps. Thanks!
