FLASHPOINT:
Hope for Gibbons administration
Mon, Nov 10, 2008 (2:01 a.m.)
My guess is that the capital reporting corps could not believe their ears when Gov. Jim Gibbons said it Friday: Everything is on the table, including tax increases, to deal with a massive budget problem. Gibbonsites may have tried to split hairs later but the statement can be seen as nothing less than an abandonment of his tireless and tiresome mantra: No new taxes. Funny how realities can intrude when you run a campaign — then an administration — on sound bites. But let us not choose now to once again be critical of a clueless, out-of-touch governor. Instead, let’s hope he is no longer narrow of mind and is perhaps open to more nuanced, complex solutions so that tangible and intangible infrastructures don’t crumble. I choose hope.

Jon, how is the possibility of raising taxes a sign of "hope"
If the Governor even agrees to negotiate on raising taxes he is as dumb as you think he is. He would gain NOTHING by raising taxes.
By the way, the people that are out of touch are the ones whose solution to every problem is "raise taxes and let the government fix it."
