FLASHPOINT:

Believe nothing right now

Sat, Nov 8, 2008 (2:01 a.m.)

With defeated candidates and would-be 2010 hopefuls already shooting their mouths off, publicly and privately, here’s some advice: Don’t believe anything you hear any of them say for the rest of this year. Maybe beyond. People say a lot of things they later regret — or they change their minds — after bitter campaign losses. Jon Porter didn’t even call Dina Titus to congratulate her, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he is saying he might still run against Sen. Harry Reid. Ditto for state Sens. Bob Beers and Joe Heck, who suffered brutal defeats to cipher contenders. And when Oscar Goodman says he will decide whether to run for governor by early next year, does anyone take him seriously? Believe nothing — until they file.
