The Associated Press reports that today is the final day for Nevadans to register to vote in the Aug. 12 primary, and election officials were expected to end up with a total of 1.3 million voters once the final signups were tallied. Clark County residents can register until 9 p.m. today at the Clark County Election Department Office at the Government Center, 500 South Grand Central Parkway, and the Clark County Election Center Office at 965 Trade Drive, Suite A, in North Las Vegas. Voters unsure of their registration status are advised to check the election department’s Web site to verify their information, or call 702-455-VOTE. Going into the close of registration, more than 105,000 new voters had registered around the state. Those new voters have made a significant change in the state's political landscape — a change that favors Democrats over Republicans, who held a statewide registration edge in 2004, the AP says.
